The bandoneon

a practical guide for composers
"DECLARED OF CULTURAL INTEREST BY THE NATIONAL MINISTRY OF CULTURE "

Musical creation is a complex process that requires, among other things, experience and close interaction with the instrument. To this end, the author offers a practical approach to the Bandoneon, its writing, and its technical and expressive resources.

This work examines the behavior of the Bandoneon solo and in combination with different instruments in various textures, to offer practical and useful information to facilitate the musical creation of any genre.

Thanks to the multimedia material included in this book, students, composers, arrangers, and amateurs will have access to a lively and close experience with the Bandoneon.

Within the framework of universal music, none of the most famous treatises on instrumentation and orchestration addressed the organology and acoustic study of the Bandoneon, because it is not an instrument belonging to the common orchestral practice. Given this fact, composers and orchestrators face a limitation due, among other things, to the lack of systematized information on the organology of the Bandoneon and its combination with other orchestral instruments. This lack of information resulted in poor and limited production of music for Bandoneon, which means a risk for the present and future of this instrument.

This work will deal with the Bandoneon, its acoustic, organological, and idiomatic writing characteristics, as well as its acoustic response in different combinations within chamber music.

Through my contribution, I hope to encourage the music community to explore and contribute to the development of the universal repertoire of music for Bandoneon and, thus, to the evolution of this wonderful instrument.
